What is a polymer? It is a chemical compound most of the time formed of multiple identical components called monomers. Combined monomers form long molecular chains. A characteristic feature of many polymers is the ability to be moulded into many shapes when heated. In certain cases, they can also be drawn into fibres called thermoplastics (or plastics).
